After their parents just up and vanished, a fresh out of highschool Ry was forced to take on the role as a parental figure for his younger sibling. It was a bumpy start, and he wanted to pawn off the brat once or twice, but he wouldn't change a thing and is, understandably, very protective of them still.
Juggling work, school, and taking care of the kid was difficult, enough so that he cut out his education finding it unnecessary. He's gotten a lot of flak for being a dropout but he could hardly care less. Unfortunately, jobs are difficult to come by for a dropout so he does plenty of odd jobs to get by and one, less than respectable occupation on the side. Not many people know what it is he does after dark, not even his sibling.
He certainly doesn't look the part but he proves he's more than capable of handling himself in a fight. Unfortunately, these underground battles tend to leave him bruised and scarred. Not wanting to raise any questions (or potentially get arrested for being involved in the gambling that goes on there), he tends to keep them covered up.
