in the way of family life, alis never speaks of her parentage or how she grew up. questions about her past are met with complete silence. her mother died when borealis was only 6. she had been suffering from severe mental disorders that didn't come to light until it was too late. after her mothers death, her father took to drinking. one day, at the age of 16, she left the house for school and just didn't come back.
it never really bothered her, the way she ended up. she dropped out and starting making a life for herself doing odd jobs. when those jobs became too scarce, she used her sneakiness and inventive nature to begin stealing.
at the age of 17, she began to get involved with a local loan shark. he taught her how to manage money with just enough of a twist to turn a profit. ever since then, she has been making a name for herself until the alias "lights". she has contacts with the local gambling rings and is still able to keep herself working freelance. all in all, she's profitable for herself. to keep a low profile, however, she keeps to herself in her modest studio apartment.
